Are visitors driven inside the parks?
Yes. Kama Ndoto Safaris removed the self-drive option after previous challenges with compliance with local park laws and operating requirements. Every booking is now driver-led, with a company-provided driver who knows the route, park procedures, and local conditions.
What is included in the daily rate?
The vehicle rate includes the vehicle, comprehensive insurance, unlimited mileage within Tanzania, a road atlas, 24/7 roadside support, and a practical vehicle briefing. Camping gear, fridge hire, and child seats are optional. The company driver is provided for every booking and the driver service fee is quoted separately. Diesel/fuel is not included.
Can multiple visitors share one vehicle?
Yes. The longer Land Cruisers usually accommodate up to five guests. The Hilux usually accommodates up to four, and the short-chassis Land Rover up to three.
Where can I collect and return the vehicle?
Pickup and drop-off are available in Arusha, Kilimanjaro Airport, and Dar es Salaam, subject to your route and dates. Each pickup or drop-off is charged separately: $25, $45, and $120 respectively. No pickup or drop-off can take place in Zanzibar.
How are rental days counted?
Rental days are 24-hour periods from the agreed handover time. A 10:00 Monday pickup returned by 10:00 Tuesday counts as one day. Returning later than the agreed time may add another rental day.
How does low-season pricing work?
Lower daily rates apply to rental days from 1 March through 30 May. The calculator applies the lower rate only to eligible days: Land Cruiser 2026 $109/day, Land Cruiser 2018 $84/day, and Toyota Hilux Double Cabin $92/day.
What does the insurance cover?
The published vehicle rate includes comprehensive insurance. Your written quote should confirm the policy scope, exclusions, excess, and claims process for your dates and route. Insurance does not replace the need to follow park rules, road requirements, and the company driver's instructions.
What happens if the vehicle breaks down?
Stop safely, stay with the vehicle, and contact the company driver or Kama Ndoto support as soon as possible. The driver carries rescue tools and spare-tyre support, and our 24/7 roadside process coordinates practical help or recovery. Response and replacement times depend on the vehicle location, road conditions, weather, and available support; they are not guaranteed door-to-door times.
Which vehicles have a pop-up roof?
The Land Cruiser 2026 and Land Cruiser 2018 are the pop-up-roof safari options. The Toyota Hilux Double Cabin is a practical pickup, while the short-chassis Land Rover is a heritage 4×4 requiring long advance notice. Ask us to confirm the exact vehicle configuration before payment.
Will I have charging ports in the vehicle?
Charging arrangements can vary by vehicle and configuration, so we confirm the available 12V or USB setup in the vehicle details before handover rather than promising a specific port. Bring your own car charger, cables, and power bank, especially for long park days; do not rely on continuous network or power access inside protected areas.
Where can I check current park entry fees?
Use the official TANAPA tariff page for national parks such as Serengeti and Tarangire, and the official NCAA tariff page for Ngorongoro. Our practical fee guide explains how the charges fit into a driver-led quote, but authority tariffs and permit rules can change without prior notice.
