Who charges what

Two authorities matter on the northern circuit.

TANAPA

Tanzania National Parks manages Serengeti and Tarangire. TANAPA charges visitor conservation fees and may charge separate vehicle, camping, concession, and activity fees.

NCAA

Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority manages Ngorongoro. Entry, vehicle permits, crater service, camping, cultural, walking, and other activity charges are separate categories.

TANAPA notes that charges are VAT exclusive in its published tariff. Visitor category, age, season, vehicle classification, camping, concessions, and activities can change the final amount.

The NCAA page also lists separate vehicle-permit tiers, camping, cultural-boma, walking, Olduvai, balloon, concession, and other activity fees. The permit is stated as valid for one entry within 24 hours, and tariffs are subject to change without prior notice.

Common questions

Are park fees included in the vehicle rate?

No. Vehicle rental, the company-driver service, fuel, park authority charges, accommodation, and optional activities are separate parts of a Tanzania route quote. We can help you build the route and identify the charges that apply before you travel.

What changes the final amount?

Visitor category, age, nationality or residency, the authority managing the area, number of 24-hour periods, vehicle type and weight, camping, concessions, crater access, and activities can all change the final total. Tariffs can change without prior notice, so the live authority system and booking confirmation take priority.

Is Ngorongoro charged like a national park?

Not exactly. Ngorongoro Conservation Area is administered by NCAA, not TANAPA. A visit can involve an entry permit, motor-vehicle permit, the crater service fee, and any camping, cultural, walking, Olduvai, balloon, or other activity charge that applies to the itinerary.

Can Kama Ndoto arrange the permits?

For a driver-led itinerary, the operator should confirm the applicable permits and payment workflow before departure. NCAA says approved tour operators use its SafariPortal workflow to quote, pay, and download permits for the guide to present at the gate. Ask us to confirm the permit status in your written quote.
